That Stearman Smile

By Jeff Bell

July 2016

I am a Canadian pilot, flying warbirds in Western Canada. My first introduction to Boeing was flying the famous PT-27 Stearman.

In flying over 50 types, the Stearman is by far the nicest airplane I have ever flown. It is truly enjoyable to fly. It is an amazing experience to fly open cockpit in that aircraft. It gives you that Stearman smile every time.

It was also a great trainer, and prepared me well for flying the North American Aviation Harvard Mark II.

Congratulations to Boeing on your centennial. I am proud to wear your Boeing Totem Patch on my flight suit.
