American Airlines selected 200 737s, with options for 100 more, to accelerate its single-aisle fleet replacement. Included are 100 Next-Generation 737s on firm order, with 40 more on option. American Airlines also committed to order 100 new 737 MAX airplanes, plus 60 options. The 737 MAX builds on the strengths of the market-leading Next-Generation 737. The new airplane incorporates the most advanced new technology engines and winglets to deliver the highest levels of efficiency, reliability and passenger appeal.
