The launch of a new brand for Brazilian low-cost carrier GOL Linhas Aereas Inteligentes, coupled with the delivery of its 100th direct-buy Next Generation 737, gives the airline and Boeing the opportunity to celebrate both the past and the future, said Donna Hrinak, president of Boeing Latin America.
GOL painted its newest 737-800 in its new livery, and unveiled the airplane at a ceremony attended by some 400 employees, media and special guests July 15. The new livery is coupled with a new brand image, new features and improved service.
Boeing helped GOL acquire its first four Next-Generation 737s to support its launch of services in January 2001. Today, the airline has a fleet of about 140 Next-Generation 737s (about 40 purchased or leased on the secondary market). It has another 18 737-800s on order, and has ordered 60 737 MAX airplanes.
