Korean Air Commits to 5 747-8 Intercontinentals and 6 777-300ERs

With this order, Korea’s flag carrier expands its backlog for 747-8 Intercontinental airplanes to 10. Korean Air previously had five 747-8 Intercontinental airplanes on order and is the only airline in the world to order both the passenger and freighter variations of the airplane. It has taken delivery of three of its seven Freighters on order.

Korean Air, with a fleet of 149 aircraft, is one of the world’s top 20 airlines, and operates more than 400 flights per day to 125 cities in 45 countries. It is a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance, which together with its 19 members, offers its 552 million annual passengers a worldwide system of more than 15,000 daily flights covering 1,000 destinations in 187 countries.
