Thousands of students returned to classes ready to learn this fall with the help of generous Boeing employees who raised a record amount of funding for school supplies through the company’s annual Books & Backpacks drive. Drive leaders set a “stretch” goal to surpass last year’s giving by 42% and exceeded it, raising more than $100,000!

The money raised will support Lego League season with FIRST Washington, new books for Page Ahead, and backpacks and school supplies from World Vision.

“Boeing’s Books & Backpacks drive makes Page Ahead’s work possible,” said Susan Dribble, Executive Director of Page Ahead. “Funds raised from employees and matching gifts help students from low-income families gain access to the books they need to become strong readers. And it is working! Test data show students in our Book Up Summer program are succeeding in reading at a higher rate than their peers not in the program.”
