The Economic Development Council of Seattle & King County (EDC) has recognized The Boeing Company for being a "dedicated and impactful" partner with a long-term commitment to the region. EDC’s leadership cited Boeing’s "significant contributions to growing our local economy" and generous giving to hundreds of Washington nonprofits as some of the reasons the economic development organization chose to bestow the honor on Boeing in 2016.

"Each year our organization singles out a private sector champion who exemplifies leadership in economic development and has made a significant contribution to growing our regional economy," explained Will Einstein, Vice Chair of the Board of the Economic Development Council of Seattle & King County. "This year, we thought it would be fitting if we honored Boeing as it kicks off its historic Centennial year as a company and in our region."

Drew Magill, Director of Marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes and also an EDC Board Member accepted the award on behalf of Boeing and the tens of thousands of Boeing employees who live and work in Western Washington. "The future for both Boeing and our region holds incredible opportunities along with complex challenges and intense competition," said Magill. "It will be that same uncommon spirit of innovation and collaboration that will be the key to our success going forward."
