Emergency Food Network is one of those many partners whose work is making a difference. “We have a population of over 800,000 people in Pierce County and last year we distributed 15 million pounds of food to over 1.4 million visits to our partner sites,” explains Helen McGovern-Pilant, executive director the Emergency Food Network. “Our role is not only to make sure that citizens don’t go hungry, it’s also to be very conscious about providing highly nutritious, ethnically diverse food to our neighbors in need.”
