Space training: The next 100 years

January 11, 2017 in Defense

The Boeing Mission Simulator (BMS) is one step closer to training CST-100 Starliner astronauts with NASA’s Commercial Crew program. Piece by piece, the simulator was shipped from its build site in St. Louis, Mo. to its new home at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. The BMS is a realistic setup of the real space capsule that will transport astronauts to and from the International Space Station (ISS). Every switch, button and touch screen is exactly like Starliner. The high-fidelity, tactile trainer gives astronauts the space mission experience while on the ground. The BMS will prepare them for the next generation of human spaceflight.
