Personal Information:

The following data elements are processed as part of the application process: legal name, name of employer, professional title, field of expertise, professional biography with optional photograph.

The following data elements are processed as part of the export control process: legal name, citizenship, US Permanent Residency/Asylee/Refugee Status.

The following data elements are processed as part of the badging process: legal name, citizenship, birth month and day, email, phone, associated company.

The following data elements are processed as part of the travel booking process: legal name, citizenship, phone number, email address, frequent flyer number, dietary restrictions, accommodation requirements.

NOTE: Date of birth and passport information are collected via telephone by an Enterprise Technology Office representative while booking travel using the Boeing Concur system. Date of birth and passport information are not otherwise collected or stored during this process. Participants will also be required to show valid government ID to receive a Boeing badge, but it will not be stored.

 

What are the purposes of processing personal data in this activity? The information requested on the Visiting Professor Program (VPP) application is used for the purposes of selecting participants for the program and ensuring the participant is matched to a host who best aligns with their area of expertise. In addition, candidates will be requested to provide the necessary personal information to book travel accommodations, to meet Boeing badging requirements, and to comply with export control requirements.
What is the legal basis of processing personal data in this activity?   The data subject has given consent to the processing of his or her personal data for one or more specific purposes.

Participants self-elect to provide information requested on the VPP application to be considered for selection. At any time, participants may request a copy of their application, to withdraw their application and/or request that it be deleted. Requests may be made to the VPP Program Manager via email at any given time.
 
What is the legal basis of processing personal data in this activity?   Processing is necessary for compliance with a legal obligation to which the controller is subject. 
Is the data subject (the person to whom the data relates) required to provide personal information for this processing activity, and what would be the possible consequences of failing to do so? Provision of personal information for this processing activity is not required.  If personal data is not provided, the candidate cannot participate in the Visiting Professor Program.
Who are the recipients of the personal data in this activity? The recipients of the personal data are the Boeing Enterprise Technology Office, Boeing badging, Boeing Global Trade Controls, and Concur.
In what countries will the personal data be processed? The personal data will be used by business processes based in the United States.

The personal data will be stored in the United States.

How long will the personal data be retained by this activity? Data from Visiting Professor Program applications will be retained for one year. Travel booking information will be retained until the data subject requests removal or according to the terms and conditions of the contract between Boeing and Concur. Data used for badging purposes will be maintained for the current calendar year plus two years. Data used for export control purposes will be retained for five years.
What specific privacy rights may the individuals whose personal data is processed by this activity have, and how can they be exercised? Anyone may have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (https://boeing.com/privacy/authorities.html).

Depending upon the jurisdiction(s) in which you live or work, you may have the following additional rights:

  • to data portability
