GeoControl Systems, Inc. was recognized with the Outstanding Performance Award at the 2022 Supplier of the Year event. The award is given to a supplier who has a sustained high level of performance in support of key Boeing Supply Chain initiatives.
Q: How did your company get started?
A: GeoControl Systems, Inc. was founded in 1984 as a software research and development firm by John Zarcaro, former Navy pilot and NASA engineer, and a group of Houstonians. Our small, family-owned business was transformed in 2002 when it first received certification as a HUBZone firm and steadily grew the employee base from 37 to almost 400 today.
Q: What Boeing products are associated with your company?
A: GeoControl Systems, Inc. supports The Boeing Company at NASA’s Johnson Space Center through the International Space Station (ISS) Boeing Engineering and Technical Services (BETS) contract.
Q: What is your company vision/mission?
A: Our technical and social accomplishments attract the best engineering, administrative, and managerial talent to our company. We employ a diverse workforce and positively impact their lives. We offer superior value, constancy, and transparency to our customers. We invest in American communities, and we are recognized by our peers and customers as a leader.
Q: What does it mean to be recognized as a Supplier of the Year?
A: It was extremely exciting to receive news of this honor and, moreover, it is rewarding for the Boeing Engineering and Technical Services project employees to be recognized for the outstanding work they perform in support of the International Space Station. It is also an honor to have sustained a long-standing relationship with The Boeing Company through the exceptional efforts of our team of employees.
Q: What characteristics about your team do you most credit for your company’s achievement?
A: Knowledgeable and hardworking, mixing experienced employees with a continued infusion of younger talent, this team maintains high-functioning efficiency. A balance of mentorship support with professional latitude and autonomy allows every teammate to maximize their individual potential and the team’s impact.
Q: What‘s an interesting fact about your company?
A: Although we are a small business, we perform nine concurrent contracts in support of NASA and the Missile Defense Agency across the United States. Our employees are as diverse and remarkable as the positions they hold, from designing spacesuits and curating moon rocks to packaging astronaut meals and sustaining the ISS.
Q: Anything else you want to spotlight?
A: Our purpose is tied to our designation as a HUBZone company and our ability to make a difference in the lives and communities of our family of employees through increased employment opportunities and economic revitalization. This is good work, and we are proud to be part of it.
