ThunderCat Technology is a Value-Added Reseller that delivers technology products and services in and around the datacenter by providing strategies for data storage, networking, cybersecurity and Cloud transformations. ThunderCat Technology is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business that is led by a combat-wounded CEO. We are currently ranked No. 65 on the Solution Provider 500, and in September 2022, the Washington Business Journal ranked us No. 1 in their Top Performing Small Technology Companies list. The company had five co-founders, and was originally formed as a Managed Service Provider, that also focused on the FedIT marketplace. After determining customers wanted to buy products too, the co-founders split the company into two parts – one with services and one with products, now ThunderCat, which was named after the CEO whose call sign in Baghdad was ThunderCat6.

Q: How do you incorporate technology and innovation into your company?

A: In order to be a trusted advisor in the marketplace our sales professional and engineers must be on top of all new and emerging technologies. We are constantly monitoring the ecosystem for best-in-class solutions and niche solutions as well so that we can give the best, objective and independent advice. This ranges from cyber, to cloud, to drones, and beyond.

Q: How does you ensure quality in your operations?

A: Since we are small, we have to take extra steps to ensure quality to gain the trust of larger partners and customers. Since 2012, we have been ISO 9001 certified. These quality management systems and measurements help ensure we meet customer and other stakeholder needs. Over the past 5 years, we have added ISO 28000 and ISO 20243 to mitigate maliciously tainted and counterfeit products. We now address specific threats to the integrity of hardware and software products throughout the product life cycle.

Q: How do you keep your employees inspired?

A: We are very focused on ensuring that each and every employee is challenged, supported, acknowledged, and rewarded. We have a Results Only Work Environment where excellence is the standard, but allows for maximum flexibility in schedule. We have team building events and various celebrations at both the department and company level. We also have some unique items like unlimited vacations, never work on your birthday policies and letter home to the parents program. We have a culture of creativity, self-discipline, freedom, and responsibility. Our employees have flourished in this environment and respond with their best efforts. We have fun as a team and together, we help each other be great.

Q: Anything else you want to spotlight about the company?

A: Charity and giving back to the community is part of our DNA. We are a four-time finalist and 2018 winner of Outstanding Corporate Citizen of the Year from the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce. Last year, we supported over 30 different non-profits ranging from food banks to cancer prevention, minority education, and of course veterans’ causes. In 2006, the CEO started a nonprofit 100% volunteer organization that provides aid to children of wounded warriors and fallen heroes. They help American Veterans’ families in crisis.
