Uzbekistan Chooses Two Boeing 767s for Fleet Expansion

SEATTLE, March 16, 2001 -- The Boeing Company today confirmed Uzbekistan Airways' selection of two Boeing m5311767-300ER767-300ER airplanes. Deliveries are scheduled for August and September of 2002. The airline currently has three Boeing 757s and two 767s in its fleet.

"This was a very aggressive campaign, and Uzbekistan chose to grow its fleet with the 767 because it offers unparalleled flexibility to profitably operate in their market," said Doug Groseclose, vice president International Sales - Boeing Commercial Airplanes Group. "With this selection, Uzbekistan Airways reconfirms the 767's unmatched versatility and efficiency in its class."

The versatile 767 family of airplanes has the lowest operating cost, a choice of three passenger models and one freighter model, with range capability from 5,645 nautical miles (10,440 km) on the 767-400ER to 6,615 nautical miles (12,250 km) on the 767-200ER. It also provides universal airport compatibility.

The 767 is one of the most popular wide body airplanes ever built and provides extensive commonality with the Boeing 757, which includes a common pilot-type rating.

With more than 900 airplane orders from 80 operators, the 767 is second only to the 747 in total widebody sales. To maintain this market leadership, Boeing is continually improving the 767's features and capabilities. This past year, Boeing delivered its first newest member of the 767 family the 767-400ER. In September the company committed to production an even longer-range 767-400ER that will fly more than 6,100 nautical miles (11,325 km).
