Airport Operations

The Boeing Airport Compatibility Group assists the aviation community to address their airport-related issues regarding our airplanes, providing Boeing and McDonnell Douglas commercial airplane product information needed to promote the continued and timely development of the world's airports. Other services are also identified which are available to assist with the planning, engineering and evaluation of airport facilities and their functions.

Airplane Characteristics for Airport Planning -- Boeing provides a variety of documents that provide airplane characteristics data for general airport planning. Sections within each document include airplane description, airplane performance, ground maneuvering, terminal servicing, operating conditions, and pavement data.

747-8 Airport Compatibility -- While the 747-8 retains many of the same exterior dimension as the 747-400 (tail height, engine span, main landing gear post span), the increased wingspan of the 747-8 aircraft places it into ICAO airport design category F. Since most of the world's major airports are built to ICAO Code E standards, Boeing is working, on behalf of our airline customers, with airports and Civil Aviation Authorities worldwide to ensure that the proper plans are in place to accommodate safe and economical operations. Click on the link to access resources to support airports, regulators and airlines with accommodating the 747-8 at their airport(s).

Rescue & Fire-- Boeing offers Airplane Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) information for all Boeing models for use by airports, airlines and fire departments. Information is available in English and Russian and includes flammable materials location, emergency rescue access, battery locations and flight deck control switch locations.

Airport Noise and Emissions Regulations -- The purpose of this web site is to track and report airport noise and emissions restrictions and government regulations for airline customers. This information also allows us a better understanding of problems a customer airline may encounter at a particular airport and to assist them in developing possible solutions. We would like to thank all of the airports that review and contribute to keeping this information as up-to-date as possible for our mutual customers.

Airport Planning & Engineering Services -- Boeing has services available to support current and prospective aircraft, including runway length analysis; airport safety & operational assessment; runway/pavement analysis; airport facility planning/engineering and ground maneuvering & gate planning.

Aviation Industry Documents -- Airport Compatibility participates in various aviation industry activities and working groups in the role of liaison for Boeing airplane compatibility issues and services at worldwide airports.

CAD 3-View Drawings -- Boeing provides three-view drawings in AutoCAD format for a wide variety of Boeing airplane models and variants. The drawings, used for airport planning purposes, are accurate to within 6 inches.
