Celebrating more than a century of growth in the Evergreen State.
Celebrating more than a century of growth in the Evergreen State.
Welcome to the Boeing in Washington website. The Boeing Company took root in Washington state in 1916 and during the more than 100 years since, we have grown to become the world’s largest aerospace company and the largest exporter in the United States. We owe this success in no small part to the talent and community support of people in Washington state—thank you!
Today, Boeing is the largest private employer in Washington. Currently, we employ more than 70,000 people in the state, which is tens of thousands more than we had 10 years ago. Our dedication to this region is clear — we have committed to build the single- aisle 737 MAX -- with a backlog of more than 3,300 airplanes — here in Puget Sound, as well as the revolutionary composite wing of the 777X. We will also do final assembly of the 777X in Puget Sound.
While our factories and office buildings are buzzing with activity, we are also keenly focused on improving the communities where our employees live and work. This website is designed to share our commitment to this state, our local environment and the good work being done by our hundreds of partners in the local communities around us.
Our past, present and future is inextricably intertwined and Boeing is committed to enhancing the Washington communities where our approximately 70,000 employees live and work. The Boeing Company made its first charitable contribution in 1917 when a gift from William E. Boeing helped the University of Washington build the state’s first wind tunnel. More than a century later Boeing, our employees and retirees contribute more than $50 million annually to more than 200 Washington organizations dedicated to improving the lives of people in this state. Please view these stories to learn more about some of the partnerships that Boeing and our employees are so deeply proud of.
