Boeing, Terma Sign Memorandum of Understanding For Future P-8 Collaboration

  • Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) builds on decade-long partnership between Terma and Boeing

DALO Industry Days, Ballerup, DENMARK, Aug. 20, 2025 — Boeing [NYSE: BA] and Terma have strengthened their long-standing partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for future P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft collaboration. The signing took place at this year’s DALO Industry Days.

The MoU underscores Boeing’s commitment to building a resilient European industrial base by leveraging strategic partnerships with government entities and leading industry players like Terma.

“Terma is an enduring supplier to Boeing’s P-8 program and we have collaborated together for over a decade to advance Denmark’s aerospace ecosystem on projects such as the Harpoon Missile Simulator, a realistic training environment for the operation of advanced missile systems,” said Maria Laine, president of Boeing United Kingdom, Ireland, and the Nordics. “In the face of global challenges, this MoU fortifies our shared vision for a stronger, more capable defense industrial base, and we are proud to stand beside Denmark’s largest defense company to deliver enhanced sovereign fleet support if Denmark selects the P-8 for its maritime patrol aircraft requirement.”

The MoU outlines a commitment to support Denmark’s evolving maritime surveillance needs through local Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) solutions for the P-8 if selected.

Thomas Flarup, executive vice president at Terma, said: “This agreement marks an important step in our ambition to strengthen Denmark’s position in critical sustainment capabilities. We believe that robust MRO infrastructure is essential to ensuring operational availability of key assets such as the P-8. If the Danish Defense decides on acquiring the P-8 as a new military platform, we – as the industry, stand ready to support. By formalizing our intent to collaborate with Boeing, we are not only deepening an already strong relationship - we are also aligning our industrial capabilities to strengthen national resilience.”

The P-8 has become a critical asset in protecting the High North and is in operation by Euoprean allies including Norway and the United Kingdom. Germany will soon enter service with the first of its aircraft. Germany officially increased its P-8A buy to eight aircraft when the U.S. Navy awarded Boeing a $3.4 billion contract in 2024. The award also included 14 Poseidon aircraft for the Royal Canadian Air Force.

With more than 170 P-8 aircraft delivered or in service and over 660,000 flight hours logged, the P-8 has proven its effectiveness in conducting search and rescue, anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief missions.
