Salmon mean more than regional pride — they are a keystone species and a measure of waterway health, and their populations are under stress. For the fifth consecutive Green Night since the Kraken’s inaugural season, Boeing served as presenting sponsor and showcased partnerships with Long Live the Kings and Stewardship Partners to support salmon recovery.

The scene: Boeing engaged Kraken fans on Thursday, April 2, as the Climate Pledge Arena concourse transformed into a sustainability exhibit that turned salmon migration challenges into a tactile learning experience. The exhibit featured a large floor graphic and hands-on hockey play that showed how water temperatures, toxic runoff and other hazards can make the long journey even harder for salmon.

Throughout the evening, Boeing’s sustainability team engaged fans, explaining how the company works with Long Live the Kings and Stewardship Partners to protect water quality and support salmon recovery.

Why it matters: The exhibit made abstract conservation issues direct and memorable so fans could see how everyday choices and community efforts affect salmon survival and regional water health.

Voice of the partner: “There is nothing more Northwest than salmon,” said Jacques White, CEO of Long Live the Kings. “Boeing is supporting organizations like Long Live the Kings to educate our community about actions we can all take to improve water quality and restore salmon habitat. It’s critically important to maintain our salmon populations for future generations.”

Boeing’s commitment: Since 2015, Boeing has backed Long Live the Kings’ efforts to put local salmon populations on a meaningful path to recovery: launching cross-border research to find solutions to high juvenile salmon mortality in the Salish Sea, convening salmon recovery leaders to address high temperatures and low dissolved oxygen impeding salmon migration in the Lake Washington Ship Canal, and nurturing the next generation of salmon advocates through the innovative Survive the Sound fish race. Our partnership helps drive the evidence-based solutions needed to protect local salmon and the countless communities who depend on these iconic fish. Events like Green Night translate that work into simple actions and local awareness.
