Innovating for customers and our industry

We’re transforming how we design, build and operate to improve aerospace efficiency and performance.

Investing in efficiency for customers, industry and our operations

Aerospace protects and connects people, enables economic growth and trade, provides humanitarian relief and allows for human exploration of space.
Boeing collaborates globally with customers and stakeholders to support responsible growth for our industry, and we invest in innovation that improves the efficiency and sustainability of air travel and our operations.

Aviation Efficiency

Boeing is designing and building more efficient airplanes for our customers

Fleet renewal supports the aviation industry’s long-term growth and sustainability goals. Our commercial airplane family reduces fuel use and CO2 emissions by 20-30% and significantly reduces noise for local communities.

Global Collaboration

Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF)

Boeing has led the aviation industry in making SAF a reality, and we collaborate globally with airlines, governments, industry and research institutions to increase SAF supply and reduce its price. SAF – made from used cooking oil, non-edible plants, agricultural waste, industrial plant off-gassing and other sustainable feedstocks – can be blended up to 50% with conventional Jet A, lowering lifecycle CO2 by up to 80%.

Leveraging data to inform aviation’s future

The Boeing Cascade Climate Impact Model explores ways to improve efficiencies and reduce emissions as our industry grows.

Sustainable Operations

Building more efficient products in a sustainable way

Boeing understands that sustainability starts within our own operations. That’s why we set targets and measure performance, recognize sustainable practices, invest in innovative projects at our sites and reduce resource use.

Boeing has four strategies to advance sustainable operations: Innovation and Engagement, Efficiency and Conservation, Site Infrastructure and Investment, and Resilience and Risk Management.

Efficiency and Conservation

Responsible aerospace begins inside our facilities because efficient operations cut costs, conserve resources and prevent pollution. We work to optimize building and equipment performance and utilize SAF in our operations.

Site Infrastructure and Investment

We invest strategically in our site infrastructure to drive efficiency and reduce cost. And we prioritize LEED standards and implement renewable energy plans in support of our goals.

Resilience and Risk Management

Boeing is committed to restoring legacy industrial sites to support economic and environmental well-being of local communities. We recognize our responsibility for past practices and work as a long-term partner to help repair damage. We coordinate with local governments and communities to make tangible progress for people, wildlife, and the environment.
