Executive Biography of Tommy Preston, Jr.
Tommy Preston, Jr. is the chief compliance officer and vice president of Global Compliance for The Boeing Company. He has held this position since July 2026 and is a member of Boeing’s Executive Council. Preston leads Boeing’s ethics and compliance program, enabling business success through a culture of integrity, ethical conduct, workplace and product safety, and compliance with laws and company policies. Preston is also responsible for proactively addressing legal and compliance obligations while providing company leaders with early visibility of emerging risk and issues.
Previously, Preston served as Boeing’s vice president of Global Talent, Development & Employee Experience. In this role, Preston led a global team responsible for Boeing’s talent strategy, including talent acquisition, onboarding, learning and development, performance management, and culture initiatives. He was also responsible for enhancing employee experience and embedding company culture and values throughout the employee lifecycle.
Before this assignment, Preston was vice president of Ethics at Boeing, where he provided strategic leadership through an employee-centric, data-driven approach that strengthened compliance and ethical behavior company-wide. He also advanced the integration of the Global Compliance team at Boeing sites through localized engagement, training, and support, and led initiatives to bolster the company’s Speak Up culture, reporting channels, and anti-retaliation policy.
Preston began his Boeing career in the Government Operations organization, advising on regulatory and public policy matters, and serving as an external representative for the company. He supported myriad business unit programs, including 787, Space Launch System, and Missile and Weapon Systems across multiple sites.
Prior to joining Boeing, Preston was in private practice where he represented companies and organizations, including Boeing, on public policy, compliance, and regulatory matters.
Preston graduated with a degree in political science from the University of South Carolina and earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of South Carolina School of Law. As an undergraduate student, he was a Bill and Melinda Gates Scholar and served as student body president. Preston has remained active at his alma mater. Preston served as president of the university’s Alumni Association. He was the youngest and first person of color in the university’s history to serve in this position. Preston also represented alumni as a voting member of the university’s Board of Trustees.
