Executive Biography of Uma Amuluru

Uma M. Amuluru is Chief Human Resources Officer and Executive Vice President, Human Resources for The Boeing Company. She was appointed to the position in April 2024 and serves on the company’s Executive Council. Uma is responsible for Boeing’s talent planning, global talent acquisition, learning and development, compensation and benefits, employee and labor relations, performance management, and culture initiatives.

Before this assignment, Uma was General Counsel for Boeing Defense, Space & Security, where she provided legal advice and counsel to the organization and played a central role in shaping the future of the company’s defense and space business. Previously, Uma was the Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President of Global Compliance for Boeing. In this role, she was responsible for Boeing’s ethics and compliance program, which enables business success through an organizational culture committed to integrity, ethical conduct, workplace and product safety, and compliance with laws and company policies. Uma was also a member of the Boeing Executive Council and responsible for proactively addressing legal and compliance obligations as well as providing company leaders with early visibility of any arising issues. She also previously served as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Boeing. In that role, Uma was responsible for legal advice and counsel to the chief engineer; chief information officer; and Manufacturing, Supply Chain & Operations leaders. Uma advised on matters related to intellectual property, cybersecurity, enterprise supply chain, and environment, health and safety.

Before joining Boeing, Uma held several senior positions in the federal government. As counselor to U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch, Uma advised on high-profile criminal and law enforcement matters. She was also associate White House counsel to President Barack Obama, a role in which she provided legal and strategic advice to senior White House officials on issues involving compliance, oversight, and risk management. Uma is a former federal prosecutor, and served as assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia.

Uma began her legal career as a commercial litigator for large companies facing complex legal disputes. As an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, and a partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Uma represented companies in government enforcement actions, investigations, and state and federal litigation. She also served as a law clerk at the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit. Uma currently serves on the board of directors for Legal Aid Chicago and on the board of trustees for the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago. She has a J.D. from Northwestern University School of Law and earned a bachelor’s degree from Duke University.
