Overview

It’s a challenge we didn’t take lightly. How can you extend and expand the capabilities of some of the world’s most advanced airpower systems?

By multiplying their capabilities – and exponentially increasing their ability to project force as a result.

The Boeing MQ-28 is an uncrewed collaborative combat aircraft which uses smart human-machine technology to be that force multiplier.

It is designed to team with existing military aircraft to provide operational relevance, persistence and survivability in highly contested environments.

Equipped with autonomous systems and technology, the MQ-28 makes game-changing leaps in speed, affordability and quantity, while reducing risk to existing crewed assets.

Force Multiplier

The Boeing MQ-28 delivers affordable combat mass to complement and enhance crewed and uncrewed air domain missions.

  • Extend the mission – fuses sensor and payload information from multiple aircraft to complement and extend intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, tactical early warning missions and more.
  • Rapid capability insertion – based on open-source architecture, MQ-28 provides mission flexibility and allows rapid reconfiguration and customisation of onboard systems, enabling allied forces to exploit rapid innovation cycles and be responsive to changing threat environments.
  • Affordable, intelligent combat mass – enhances the operational effectiveness of existing platforms.
  • Fighter-like performance – measuring 38 feet long (11.7m) and able to fly more than 2,000 nautical miles to support crewed and uncrewed assets.

Global System

Designed and developed by Boeing in Australia, the MQ-28 aims to provide a transformational capability for global defense customers. This purpose-built aircraft is a force multiplier for global allied militaries and can be missionized to suit country-specific needs.

  • Open system architecture is platform agnostic and enables rapid capability insertion and third-party payloads
  • Modular, missionized nose enables payloads to be quickly swapped out
  • Trusted autonomy – executes mission elements with minimal increase in workload for crewed platforms
  • Designed to be 1/10th of the cost of a crewed platform
  • Purpose-built system leverages advanced manufacturing and digital production capabilities
  • Leverages Boeing’s global R&D expertise, as well as a strong industry team of agile global suppliers, with the ability to support national prosperity and sovereignty objectives.
