The American Red Cross will recognize a Boeing 737 team member Thursday (March 23) for saving the life of a fellow employee who had a heart attack. Mechanic Dustin Roads found Function Test team member Oudom Khanphongphane unresponsive outside the Renton, Washington, site in 2021. Roads administered CPR as Quality Assurance team member “Lilly” Thorng called 911.

The Red Cross will honor Roads with its “Hero Award.” Watch the video above to discover how the team’s quick actions changed Khanphongphane’s life.

Why it matters: Boeing’s safety culture relies on everyone taking ownership to look out for themselves and each other and working together to foster a safer workplace.
