Celebrating the delivery of 6 Poseidon aircraft to the Republic of Korea Navy

The Republic of Korea took delivery of six Boeing P-8A Poseidon aircraft at a ceremony Thursday at Naval Air Command in Pohang, marking a significant milestone in the country’s maritime patrol capabilities.

Catch up quick: The P-8 is a multi-mission maritime patrol aircraft whose capabilities include anti-submarine warfare; anti-surface warfare; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; and search and rescue.

  • The Asian nation is one of nine countries around the world to select or operate the P-8. The others are the United States, India, the United Kingdom, Australia, Norway, New Zealand, Germany and Canada.
