Editor’s note: This year marks the 30th anniversary of the 777’s first delivery and entry into service. This video highlights some of the thousands of teammates who have helped make it the world’s most popular and best-selling widebody airplane family of all time.

Since United Airlines inaugurated 777 passenger service 30 years ago, the bestselling widebody airplane family has transported nearly 4 billion passengers – enough to fill Lumen Field, the home of Seattle’s NFL team, every day for 160 years.

  • While that first flight connected London and Washington, D.C., the 777 today connects people at points all around the globe with nearly 1,800 daily flights.

Celebrating our customers: In a new video celebrating the 777’s anniversary, teammates from across the program express their appreciation in more than 20 languages, from Amharic to Urdu, to the nearly 100 customers who have chosen the 777 family.

“Thank you for supporting the 777 for 30 years. We look forward to continuing to work with you. Thank you very much,” shared Yuki, Seira and Yoko Kojima, in Japanese.

  • 777 engineering runs in the family: Yuki began his career as a 777 structural engineer and now works in Sales & Marketing; Yoko is a customer engineer who helps airlines configure their 777X airplanes; and their daughter Seira is a flight-test engineer who supports the 777X.

A global impact: The 777 fleet connects people and transports cargo worldwide every day. The family also has served unique missions such as:

  • Delivering medical aid and relief supplies as part of humanitarian efforts.
  • Transporting wildlife, including pandas and lions.
  • Carrying athletes to major sporting events, including the Olympics, Super Bowl and FIFA World Cup.

The 777 helped cement Boeing’s leadership in the widebody market, with two-thirds of widebody airplanes in service and on order being Boeing airplanes, according to the company.
