As the company works to strengthen its culture, Boeing teammates say they are seeing a difference in how they work together.

In the year since refreshing Boeing’s Values and Behaviors, many teammates around the world have risen to the challenge of championing them—holding themselves and others accountable according to recent survey results.

Teammate voices: Boeing’s Values and Behaviors were written by employees for employees through culture surveys, focus groups, and a 40-person team assembled from across the organization. Today, teammates continue to voice their perspectives as they share what they expect from Boeing’s continued transformation—including leaders spending more time with their teams to understand challenges, and teammates improving how they work together to get jobs done.

  • “Especially in the last year, we do see quite a bit of difference,” said Adrian Tan, who supports Commercial Airplanes Customer Support. “There are a lot more interactions between the upper management of the company and the individuals within the organization.”
  • “People have the Values and Behaviors printed out at their desk, and we speak about it not like, ‘These are Boeing’s Values and Behaviors,’ but ‘These are our Values and Behaviors,” said Kelsey Tuhy, Defense, Space & Security teammate.
  • “Don’t ever give up on this,” said A.J. McMullin, Global Services teammate. “People need that motivation. People need that confidence that what they’re doing is important.”

Why it matters: The company’s culture is showing measurable improvement, according to the latest employee survey that finds 79% of employees are proud to work at the company, a 12-percentage point increase in pride versus the prior survey.

The work ahead: Boeing President and CEO Kelly Ortberg highlighted the survey results demonstrating the progress so far, while noting there’s more work to do to strengthen the culture.

  • “Changing our culture is one of the most important things we can do together to bring out the best in Boeing,” Kelly Ortberg, President and Chief Executive Officer, said.
