Mile high moment: Colorado teammates welcome Freedom Plane

The National Archives Freedom Plane arrived in Denver on May 26, continuing its national tour to bring nine original founding era documents to regional audiences. It was the fifth of eight stops as part of the United States’ 250th anniversary celebration.  

The documents will be on display May 28 – June 14 at the History Colorado Center. 

• Boeing is supporting the National Archives Freedom Plane National Tour with a Boeing 737 in Freedom Plane livery.
• The tour is produced in partnership with the National Archives and the National Archives Foundation.

Why it matters: The tour moves nine original founding era documents out of the National Archives Museum together for the first time, making the nation’s founding history physically accessible to communities and giving Colorado employees a local opportunity to see them. 

Driving the news: Representatives from Boeing, the National Archives, the National Archives Foundation, Denver International Airport, local officials and media held a welcome ceremony for the plane’s arrival. Special guests included CFO of BGS Commercial Modifications and Maintenance Mike Dean, Colorado Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera and Colorado State Senator Jeff Bridges. 

Zoom in: More than 600 Boeing teammates work across multiple Colorado sites, bringing engineering, operations and community engagement expertise to the state. For those employees, the visit is a chance to showcase local contributions to aviation.

The big picture: The Freedom Plane National Tour aims to unite, educate and inspire by bringing rarely seen original documents to communities across the country.
