Meet Elizabeth Kauffman

Airframe Structural Design
Elizabeth Kauffman

I was exposed to the world of aerospace early on as my dad worked for McDonnell Aircraft Corporation, which eventually merged with Boeing. His work piqued my interest in engineering at a young age. I was always interested in structures design, as it gave me an opportunity to interact with many disciplines in engineering and manufacturing to solve tough problems. I love that there is always something new to learn and discover.

I enjoy developing vehicles for the safety of our country and making sure we can deliver quality products our customers need. I also enjoy working with early-career engineers and helping them develop strong skills to be successful.

As a new airframe structural design Senior Technical Fellow, I am humbled and excited about the responsibility to do my part in delivering technical excellence. With the team, I will strive to make sure Boeing is the best in industry for another 100 years and beyond.

We have many opportunities ahead. Our work in structural design establishes robust load paths in collaboration with strength analysis, satisfies aerodynamic requirements, provides adequate space and access for subsystems, and yields parts and assemblies that are producible and supportable. These elements are essential to delivering the right product within the required time frame. I am committed to contributing to the development and delivery of superior airplanes and to exploring new technologies, such as advanced digital tools, that help us build faster and with higher quality.
