Engineering is a field that uses science and creativity to solve real-world problems or create new things. I was able to visit Boeing when I was in high school and see the type of engineering work Boeing performed, and I discovered that mechanical engineering was most interesting to me.
Nothing beats the feeling of seeing an airplane you helped design take its first flight, and I have had that experience several times throughout my career. At this later stage of my career, it is most rewarding to help others expand their knowledge and take on more challenging roles so they are prepared to create our future airplanes.
Through the Fellowship, I get the opportunity to work with other programs across the company that are outside my area of expertise. It broadens my network of technical experts and expands my view of how various engineering functions contribute to our products.
I am most excited to see Boeing headed back to our historical culture, which puts the product and customers as our top priorities and allows us to design and build products that exceed our customers’ expectations.
