Nonprofits ‘blown away by the generosity’ of Washington teammates during Spirit of the Holidays drive
Team Washington raised more than $350,000 to help neighbors in need
Moses Lake teammates broke their previous Spirit of the Holidays donation record.
When Boeing employees support nonprofit partners during the annual Spirit of the Holidays (SOHO) drive, they are helping their neighbors in need. But when you take a look through the lens of a nonprofit, you see the impact of giving firsthand.
“We have been blown away by the generosity and advocacy for youth in foster care by Boeing employees,” said Lindsay Hastings, the annualg giving manager for Treehouse, one of several nonprofits included in the SOHO drive.
Treehouse is dedicated to ensuring children in foster care have the support they need to pursue their dreams and launch successfully into adulthood. Treehouse is also the nonprofit that drew the most donations from our Washington teammates, with just over $80,000.
“It means so much to partner on Spirit of the Holidays to bring the magic of the season to our kids and families,” said Hastings. “Thank you!”
Between employee donations and Boeing’s matching dollars, Washington teammates raised more than $350,000 through the SOHO drive. That money will go to purchase gifts and provide a variety of services for local foster youth, low-income families and seniors in need.
Along with individual contributions, some employees teamed up for a friendly competition too. Sixty-six different teams competed for a good cause. 2022’s top Washington team, ETC SOHO Team raised a whopping $16,590.
Some teams set fundraising goals and surpassed them by large margins. Moses Lake came through with the most donations they’ve ever raised, with $12,152. And despite the fact that they are one of the smaller Boeing sites, the small-but-mighty Moses Lake team came in at No. 5 for the most donations raised.
Denise Caldwell leads the Spirit of the Holidays drive in Moses Lake. She says her Boeing Moses Lake “family” stepped up in to help in many ways this season. “Not only was SOHO exciting and goal-breaking for Moses Lake, we also donated over 4,000 pounds of food during Thanksgiving, and we are currently closing out our school supply and cold weather wear donations to our local schools,” said Caldwell. “2022 was a great giving year from our Boeing Family in Moses Lake to our Moses Lake community!”
